1. Polish and Czech feminine form of Jan which is the equivalent of John, ultimately from Hebrew "God has been gracious" and hence a variant of Jane [q.v.].

2. English. Jana was also used in old documents as the Latin form of Jane, with appropriate Latin case endings.
