Notes:

English from Greek/Latin "manly".

The abbreviations for Andrew most frequently found in the 1841 Census of Aberdeenshire are And and Andw. Adrw, Adrew and Anw were also used, albeit rarely.

A correspondent [GJ] reports that, in the early 16th century, Dand was used in the Kirk Session records of St Andrews, Scotland. This was an early short form of or pet name for Andrew.

Note that Andreas was used in many old documents in place of Andrew. Search on Andr* to take account of Latin case endings.
