ONC gives two contradictory equivalents for Vilppu:

(a) Finnish form of Philip from Greek "horse lover";

(b) Finnish form of William from Old German "helmet of resolution" or "helmet of desire".

Although these meanings are quite different, four other names websites are equally divided on which is the right one.
