Latinised version of the Greek Ieronumos = Jerome; still used in Germany, especially in Bavaria and in the Rhineland.

Hieronymus/Hieronimus was used for Jerome in old documents with appropriate Latin case endings.

It is also suggested by FreeREG as being similarly used for Jeremy although there is no etymological connection between Jerome and Jeremy.
