Scottish spelling variant of Gordon.

A correspondent [GB] has reported the spelling Gorden for a wife on a memorial inscription Old Keithall, Aberdeenshire. This would have been the family's preferred spelling although the death certificate recorded her name as Gordon.

This spelling occurs occasionally for male names in the 1841 and 1881 Censuses for Aberdeenshire but there are no examples of Gorden as a female spelling in those records.
