English pet name for Laetitia/Letitia [q.v.], from Latin "happiness".

This one-time acceptable pet name has fallen out of favour due to its unfortunate slang use. [Cf. Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome (1930)].

Titty may also be used as a pet name for Titania but this is very rare.
