English from Latin diminutive of prisca, "ancient"; NT Acts 18:2, etc.

There are a number of spelling variations, none common: Prescilla, Pricilla, Priscella, Priscillia and Prissilla. The 1841 Census of Aberdeenshire also has very rare occurrences of Priscila and Priscilia. All these spelling variants should be found by using Soundex search.
