Notes: |
A correspondent [GJ] reports the use in the early 16th century, of Mane in the Burgh Court records of Selkirk, Scotland [transcribed by the Scottish Record Society] for an "executrice". Furthermore there are letters in the National Archive of Scotland written a century later addressed to Manie - believed to be a phonetic variant of Mane - which is equated by the NAS to Marion [q.v.]. |
