Welsh, "white, fair or holy " + "flood/flow', giving the traditional meaning of having a pale compexion.
A correspondent [IS2] has found Gwenllianused as a girl's name many times in several families in Wales in the last three centuries. There is also one case of a son being given the name although our correspondent thinks this might be a corruption for Gwillam/Gwilym, the Welsh form of William. |
