We have been unable to discover a clear derivation of this name but "Florinda (Flora) Wakefield was born near Colchester, Vermont on May 27, 1839". This suggests that Florinda might be a fanciful extension of the name Flora, from Latin "flower", as in the case of deriving Lucinda from Lucia, etc.
